German Bundesliga will become Europe's first major league to resume with competition. A number of leagues intend to return around the same time, with dates in May and June circled as possibilities. However, actual return dates are subject to the virus containment efforts and governmental assent.
With mass gathering likely to be banned into next year, no fans will be present for the foreseeable future. Clubs are considering various initiatives to minimize the loss of atmosphere, such as broadcasting fan noise or filling stadiums with cardboard cutouts of fans.
