The MLS schedule for the 2021 season will begin on April 16 where each team will play 34 matches. It will be MLS’ 26th season, that will conclude on November 7. The 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs will begin November 19 until December 11.
MLS 2021 favourites
Los Angeles FCLAFC will look to its offensive depth in order to cut through to the MLS Cup playoffs in November. They are early favorite to win MLS Cup in 2021, according to the current odds. New York City
New York City didn’t finish outside the top three in the Eastern Conference for four straight seasons – finishing atop the East in 2019.
Seattle Sounders
After finishing the regular season with the best defensive record and the second-best scoring record in the West, the 2019 champions made it to the final again last season, only to fall at the last hurdle.
Columbus Crew
They won the 2020 MLS Cup by efficiency at defense and attack throughout the entire season. If Gyasi Zardes continues his scoring streak and Johnathan Mensah keps defenase solid, the reigning champions can defend their title.
MLS Format For 2021 Season
All 27 MLS clubs will play 34 regular-season matches, 17 at home and 17 on the road. The top seven teams from each conference will qualify for the playoffs, scheduled to begin on November 19. The MLS Cup will be played on December 11.The three Canadian teams – the Vancouver Whitecaps, CF Montreal and Toronto FC – will have to play all their games in the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic, until their return is permitted.
The MLS also has three new stadiums for this season, including home bases for FC Cincinnati and the defending champion Columbus Crew.
