The Daman World Triathlon Abu Dhabi kicks off the global triathlon season with a fast and furious race between the world's best triathletes, right here in the UAE's capital. Can South Africa's Henri Schoeman and the Netherlands' Rachel Klamer defend their titles? Fans will also be treated to a brand new race format - the Elite Mixed Relay. This fast and furious format of racing sees a team of 4 elite athletes (2 men, 2 women), complete a relay race before tagging in their countnry teammate. The new format of triathlon racing, which brings a team element into the usually individual sport, will make its Abu Dhabi debut this coming March and its Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020.
