The 2025 Australian Football League season is set to commence on March 6, featuring the return of the Opening Round in the northern states. The reigning premiers, Brisbane Lions, will host Geelong Cats at the Gabba, marking a rematch of the thrilling 2024 preliminary final. The Sydney Swans will face the Hawthorn Hawks at the SCG on Friday night, followed by the Gold Coast Suns taking on the Essendon Bombers at Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  
The AFL Grand Final will be played on September 27 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
